Closing the Confidence Gap & Creating Liberty; is it the missing link to Equity & Diversity?

82% of women agree they miss out on executive opportunities due to lack of confidence to put themselves forward.

  • 67% of women admit they need support building confidence at work.

  • Analysis of 5 different studies testing the relationship between confidence (or overconfidence) and perceived leadership found confidence leads to an increased perception of leadership potential (even when the competency was not present).

With an increase in corporate programs designed to improve gender equality and increase leadership opportunities for women in the workplace, confidence remains the number one barrier to promotion and success, despite the huge annual investment of in leadership programs. But what if leadership training isn’t the problem? What if it’s that women are part of a bigger game where they don’t understand the rules, or they know some of the rules, but the rules weren’t made for them or the minorities? In this engaging, practical and interactive session, participants will unpack the current challenges and the 4 key contributors that erode women’s confidence. They will learn how to identify the difference between externally and internally sourced confidence and how to build confidence resiliency to create new rules and achieve success, success defined by them.

From Patriarchy to Liberty; through the creation of Conscious Leaders

  • Women comprise 47.0% of all employed persons in Australia, the full-time average weekly ordinary earnings for women are 14.0% less than for men, women hold 13.7% of chair positions and 25.8% of directorships, and represent 17.1% of CEOs and 30.5% of key management personnel.

  • 1 in 5 Australian’s have experienced race-hate talk.

  • Almost 1 in 2 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander have experienced discrimination or harassment in the workplace in the last 12 months.

  • Almost 1 in 2 workers with a disability have experienced discrimination or harassment in the last 12 months.

  • Almost 1 in 2 LGBTI have experienced discrimination or harassment in the workplace in the last 12 months.

  • At only 38% stating ‘strongly support’, male workers are the least supportive of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

We can no longer sit back and deny the fact that we continue to live in a patriarchal society, not when, it’s the 21st Century and we continue to report statistics like this. Albeit, for the majority of us, our actions and beliefs are part of our conditioning and we play these societal norms out with little or no conscious thought. In this eye-opening and provocative session, participants will increase their conscious awareness of how they personally are contributing to the continuation of patriarchy. They will learn that we can shift from Patriarchy to Liberty (the state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one's way of life, behaviour, or political views) through the creation of Conscious Leaders.

Better Questions; Getting the best from you and your people in the midst of complexity?

  • Disruption is as great as we have ever seen it,” says Joe DePinto, CEO of 7-Eleven. “We are seeing all aspects of VUCA.” (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity)

  • 72% of leaders are not ready to lead through complexity

With the rapid speed of change through digitalisation, artificial intelligence, robots and machine learning, terrorism, financial crises, climate change and global shifts in power, we feel an increase in complexity around us. We find ourselves presented with problems, wicked problems, where we can no longer rely on our combined past experiences to help guide us to a solution. We need to equip our leaders with better ways of leading in complexity. In this informative and interactive session, participants will unpack the current challenges leaders face when working in complexity. They will learn what are Better Questions and how Better Questions create better solutions, stretching themselves and their teams to higher levels of productivity and potential.
