Continuing the Conversation with Lenore, Gabriela & Hande

This series discusses the current campaign theme of IWD through interviewing amazing humans around the world to better understand what it means to them and their individual circumstances, how they see it play out in their life and what they are doing both personally and within their organisations to create real change.

Today I am chatting with 3 incredible women from the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN), with 2 first generation immigrants and a first nations woman, their stories provide such broad perspective and wisdom.

Join me as I chat with Lynore Close, Gabriela Guiu-Sorsa and Hande Arici….

Lynore is a seasoned Cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in working across various industries, delivering key projects that enhance security and mitigate risks. As the first Indigenous ICT Traineeship graduate in South Australia, Lynore is a passionate advocate for women especially other First Nations women, to explore a career in information technology. She believes that diversity in cybersecurity is essential to driving innovation and staying ahead of evolving threats. Her passion and dedication to encouraging more women to pursue careers in cybersecurity makes her a valuable role model and leader in the industry.

Gabriela made a courageous decision to reskill and shift her career entirely to the field of cyber security, after having survived the sea of COVID redundancies in the maritime industry. Before embarking on this new path, she personally experienced the devastating impact of a sophisticated cyber-attack. Alongside her professional accomplishments, Gabriela is leading the Cyber Security Champions of Tomorrow group, a platform that nurtures and supports the next generation of cyber security professionals. With her diverse experiences and broad expertise, Gabriela is dedicated to empowering and supporting new entrants in the cyber security industry. She understands the complexities involved and is committed to helping others navigate this dynamic field while championing diversity and inclusion. Her journey exemplifies resilience, adaptability, and the transformative power of reskilling in pursuit of a meaningful profession.

Hande is a passionate and dedicated professional in the field of product management and technology. As Hande delved into various software development projects, she found herself increasingly drawn to the captivating realm of Cyber Security. She wholeheartedly committed herself to daily learning and achieved a fundamental security certification. Fueling her desire to share her newfound expertise and insights, Hande embarked on an exciting blogging journey. Through her writing, she not only aimed to provide valuable guidance to individuals seeking to adopt basic security measures but also found a powerful medium for articulating and refining her own thoughts.

All 3 women play a key role in the Qld Chapter of AWSN.
