Continuing the Conversation with Elizabeth Robinson

This series discusses the current campaign theme of IWD through interviewing amazing humans around the world to better understand what it means to them and their individual circumstances, how they see it play out in their life and what they are doing both personally and within their organisations to create real change.

Today I am chatting with Elizabeth Robinson, Elizabeth is a Disability Institute Leader with a strong background in Education with over 35 years foreign language teaching experience in both Australia and France.  Her life changed in 2015 when she acquired a rare neurological syndrome, Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This resulted in permanent facial paralysis and hearing loss on her left side. Due to the lack of awareness, medical and emotional support for people with facial paralysis, she founded the online support group - Bell’s Palsy and Facial Paralysis Support Network Australia, New Zealand, World. Elizabeth is now an internationally recognised facial palsy advocate and face equality ally. She organised the inaugural Australian Facial Paralysis Awareness Day in 2020 and has written articles and spoken on radio, television and podcasts in Australia, America and the UK.

Join us as we discuss …. the importance of asking questions (a recurring theme) why are we afraid to ask questions?, the challenges we face with tokenisation and patriarchy, how popular TV and progressive movements are muddying the waters and confusing our younger generation, and is kindness the answer?

Let’s get chatting
